The Application Preferences include general preferences for the application and are not specific to any particular item type.

Application Preferences

These are the preferences available in the Application category.

Does the application use hub locations

  • Yes

  • No

Controls whether locations can be configured as a ‘Hub’ location.

Hub Locations are designated high-level storage locations that are required for certain features, including:

  • the Accession of items

  • Setting Locked Down status

  • Disposition

    • Picklists per hub

    • Location filters

  • Billing module

Wildcard behavior

  • No Implied Wildcards – Gimmal Physical makes no assumptions about wildcards for your search criteria.

  • Auto Ending Wildcard – Gimmal Physical assumes you want a wildcard (%) at the end of any of your search criteria.

  • Auto Beginning and Ending Wildcard – Gimmal Physical assumes you desire a wildcard (%) at the beginning and end of any of your search criteria.

Controls wild card behavior when searching text fields in Gimmal Physical. See the Searching topic for additional information about searching. If you specify any wildcards in your search criteria, this preference is ignored. There are three possibilities for this preference.

Default save button

  • Save & New - save the new item and remain on the create screen to create another item.

  • Save & View - save the new item and display the item’s View page.

  • Save & Close - save the new item and return to the item tab.

The default option when manually creating items. There are three possibilities for this preference.

  • Query limit

User-entered numeric field

Limits the number of items that can be exported, included in reports, and the number of labels printed in a single operation.

This preference does NOT limit the number of search results returned. Setting this preference to a high value may cause degraded application performance.

Report expiration limit

User-entered numeric field

Length of time in days that reports will remain after they are created before being automatically removed.

Confirmation when:

  • creating records

  • updating records

  • transferring records

  • adding to cart

Controls whether Gimmal Physical will display a confirmation when the associated action is taken.

Enable application configuration history

  • Yes

  • No

Controls whether Gimmal Physical will create an application history audit entry whenever an application setting is modified, such as creating import profiles, or modifying rules.

Record searching activity in history

  • Yes

  • No

Controls whether Gimmal Physical will create an application history audit entry whenever any user performs a search.

Record viewing activity in history

  • Yes

  • No

Controls whether Gimmal Physical will create an application history audit entry whenever an item is viewed.

Enabling this option is NOT recommended and should only be used in a highly secure environment or for troubleshooting.

Record label activity in history

  • Yes

  • No

Controls whether Gimmal Physical will create an application history audit entry whenever a label is queued/dequeued for that item.

Recent destinations limit

User-entered numeric field

The number of the most recent destinations to be displayed when creating delivery requests.

Enable E-signatures

  • Yes

  • No

Allows configuration and use of E-Signature which enable the requirement of E-signatures for various actions in the application. These options are configurable from the admin page if this preference is set to ‘Yes’.

Note: E-Signatures are not supported with SSO.

Setting this to yes will enable the requirement of E-signatures for various actions in the application, configurable from the admin page.

Session Clock

  • Yes

  • No

Set to Yes to display the session clock in the application’s navigation ribbon.

Select Application Theme

  • Light

  • Blue

Controls the background color of the application.
