Using Multiple Carts

Carts let you gather boxes, files, and other items from your searches into a working set, then act on the whole set at once — request pickups or deliveries, transfer items, print labels, and more. With multiple carts you can keep several working sets going at the same time

Cart basics

A cart is your personal collection of items — think of it as a holding area. Adding an item to a cart doesn't change the item in any way; it simply keeps it on a list so you can act on many items together later.

Every user starts with a cart named Default. You can create as many additional named carts as you need — for example, one per project, department, or request batch — and switch between them at any time.

Carts are kept per item type. The carts you see while working with Boxes are separate from the carts for Files (and other item types in the left-hand menu). A cart created on the Boxes screen will not appear when you switch to Files — each item type has its own cart list and its own item counts.

The active cart

On the search screen (Home), look to the right of the action toolbar. You'll see three cart controls:

Control

What it does

Items in cart (N items)

Shows how many items are currently in the active cart.

Cart selector

A dropdown listing all your carts for this item type. The cart shown here is the active cart — the one that Add To Cart adds items to.

Cart icon

Opens the View Cart page, where you view a cart's contents and create, rename, or delete carts.

Tip: Before adding items, check which cart is shown in the selector. Switching the selector switches the active cart instantly — the item count updates to match.

Adding items to a cart

  1. Run a search on the Home screen to find the items you want (e.g. boxes for a records request).

  1. In the cart selector on the right, make sure the cart you want to fill is the active one.

  1. Tick the checkbox on each row you want to collect.

  1. Click Add To Cart in the toolbar.

  1. The cart's item count updates.

You can repeat this across as many searches as you like — the cart keeps accumulating items until you remove them or clear it.

Creating and managing carts

Click the cart icon to open the View Cart page. The bar across the top is where all cart management happens:

Control

What it does

Selected Cart

Switches which cart you are viewing and managing. The grid below shows that cart's contents.

Cart Name + Create

Type a name in the Cart Name box and click Create to make a new, empty cart.

Cart Name + Update

Renames the currently selected cart to whatever you've typed in the Cart Name box.

Delete

Deletes the currently selected cart.

Remove Selected

Takes the ticked items out of this cart (the items themselves are unaffected).

Clear Cart

Empties the cart completely.

Moving and copying items between carts

The "Move To" and "Copy To" buttons — each with its own target-cart dropdown — let you reorganize items across carts without re-searching:

  1. On the View Cart page, tick the items you want to relocate.

  1. In the dropdown next to “Move To” (or Copy To), choose the destination cart.

  1. Click the button.

"Move To" removes the items from this cart and puts them in the destination; "Copy To" places them in the destination while also leaving them here.

Buttons greyed out? "Move To" and "Copy To" stay disabled until you have ticked at least one item and chosen a destination cart that is different from the one you're viewing.

Acting on a Cart's contents

The point of collecting items into a cart is to process them in bulk. On the View Cart page, these actions apply to the cart's items:

Action

Description

Request Pickup

Requests a pickup to return items to their home location.

Request Delivery

Requests the items be delivered to you or another location.

Transfer

Transfers the items to a different location.

Transfer Home

Transfers the items back to their home location.

Print Labels

Prints labels for the items.

View / Change

View details or make changes to the items.

Keeping separate carts means each of these bulk actions can be scoped to exactly the right set of items — for instance, requesting delivery of everything in your "Audit 2026" cart without touching the boxes sitting in "Default".

Example: a separate cart for an accounting records request

  1. Click the cart icon on the search screen to open View Cart.

  1. Type Accounting in the Cart Name box and click Create.

  1. Return to the search screen (Close or Home) and pick Accounting in the cart selector, so it becomes the active cart.

  1. Search for the accounting boxes you need, tick them, and click “Add To Cart”.

  1. Repeat across searches as needed.

  1. When the set is complete, open the cart and click Request Delivery to request every box in it at once.

Your Default cart is untouched throughout — switch back to it any time via the selector.
