April 2025 Release
The April 2025 release of Gimmal Discover features an updated user interface (UI) design for the dashboard. The modern look and feel rolling out in this release was part of a larger Gimmal initiative to standardize and unify the user interfaces across our core product offerings.
It is important to note that there are no functional changes in the way Discover operates; the UI updates are purely visual. More detail about the UI update is shared in this recording of the customer release webinar.
Along with the UI update, this release also includes support for the latest Microsoft Entra PowerShell command. Microsoft has announced that it is retiring the Azure AD PowerShell commands (refer to this link) that Discover previously used when issuing Entra AD queries.
Issue Number | Description |
---|---|
101345 | Update PowerShell Modules MSOnline & Azure AD |
Important Information
If your organization uses either:
Data Owner target searches in Azure/Entra
EWS Mailbox data target searches in Azure/Entra
You must install the new PowerShell module and force an update of the Connector and EWS Agent components in the Discover dashboard to keep those queries operational.
Installing the PowerShell Module
Log in to the server where your Connector and/or EWS Agent is installed. Open a PowerShello session as an administrator and issue this command:
install-module Microsoft.Entra -AllowClobber
Also, the previously used module MSOnline is no longer required by Gimmal Discover
Updating the Connector/Agent
Log in to the Discover dashboard. Open Administration/Configuration/Connectors. Select a Connector, hover over the More button, then select ‘Update Connector and Agents’.

The next time the Connector performs a check-in, it will pick up this command and begin the update process. To verify that the Connector/Agent updates have completed successfully, verify that the following assembly numbers are shown:
Connector: 2022.1.25090.30135 (or above)

EWS Agent: 2022.1.25090.30135 (or above)
