SharePoint Online Connector (SPOC)
Label Based Record Locking
The ability to use a Purview record retention label for locking records has been added to the application. When enabled and configured, this functionality will lock all records day-forward with Purview retention labels.
Several caveats for Label-based Record Locking:
-
The functionality can only be used by clients with E5 licenses from Microsoft.
-
The functionality must be enabled and configured before it can be used. Please contact Gimmal to enable this functionality.
-
See this advisory for further details.
-
If your organization is currently using Purview retention labels for any purposes, do not enable label-based retention without first speaking with our subject matter experts.
-
Microsoft has indicated that IPRM will remain functional, but unsupported, after the April 2026 deadline.
