Featured Updates
The March 4, 2023 release of Gimmal Discover introduces general availability of two new features:
Workflow support to copy or move files directly from a network file share to SharePoint Online in the Data Governance module
Support for extracting text from image-based files using optical character recognition
File Share to SharePoint Integration
This feature is intended to help clients who wish to use a Data Governance policy to identify files on network shares that contain specific words/phrases or patterns and then either copy or move those files to a specific SharePoint Online folder.
Implementation Notes
both the File Agent and SharePoint Agent must be installed and configured
feature only supports moves or transfers to SharePoint online
maximum size of a file to be transferred must be less than 250MB
IMPORTANT: this feature is not suitable for bulk migration scenarios - use Gimmal Migrate instead
File Agent OCR
OCR - This feature implements the Tesseract OCR library inside the Discover File Agent to extract text from image-based file types. This feature is available in Governance, Classification and eDiscovery.
Implementation Notes
the latest File Agent version must be installed
The feature is available on network shares or Windows workstations (not yet available on Mac)
confidence provides a degree of control over the text results provided by the OCR extract
Workflow Editor Branding Updates
Overview
The workflow editor application has been updated to reflect Gimmal branding on both the installer and the executable.
Requirements
Important: Prior to installing the latest workflow editor version, remove any existing instance of the workflow editor using the Add/Remove Programs function in Windows.
Known Issues
You may receive a pop-up notice about a missing font file when installing the editor. If so, click the ignore button in the pop-up to complete the installation.
Notes
Samples have been removed from the workflow editor menu option ‘File/Open From’. Example workflows are now available in the Data Governance area of the Discover Dashboard by clicking on Workflows, opening the green Action sub-menu and selecting Import.
